Week 6: Burning Questions

Ah, the hometown dates are finally upon us. These are make-or-break dates for the remaining four women. If the parents are too overprotective, it can mean disaster (Kacie B. can attest to this). And if Sean doesn’t fit in with one of the girls’ families, well, they might as well pack their bags. Here’s what we’re hoping is answered this week:

1. Does Des’ brother perform the ultimate cockblock?

Des’ meathead brother apparently doesn’t like Sean too much. And neither does Desiree’s ex-boyfriend, apparently. Family is obviously very important to Sean, so we wonder how he’ll handle the impending conflict with Desiree’s brother. It’s clear that Sean likes Des, but there have been quite a few signs over the past few weeks indicating they might not be the best fit for marriage. Tonight’s showdown might force Sean to reconsider his feelings toward Des and their long-term compatibility.

2. Does Sean honestly think AshLee is a drama queen — or at least a drama-starter?

Throughout the entire season, AshLee has been as sweet as pie. She’s also been the lone contestant to tell the truth about Tierra and survive the following rose ceremony. It’s obvious that Sean and AshLee have serious chemistry, but his comments last week have us worried. Sean asked AshLee about Tierra and she told him the truth. She handled herself with poise during Tierra’s tantrum and Sean still doesn’t seem happy. We hope the fact that Sean “sided” with AshLee and valued her negative opinion about Tierra means that their connection is strong, but his words say otherwise. If he thinks AshLee is a drama queen, well, Sean might need to have his head examined.

3. If Catherine thought Lesley was a better match for Sean, why is she even here?

Does she even think she’s the best match of the remaining women? We would hope so, because Catherine seems pretty awesome. This is a difficult situation for all the contestants because they are starting to become friends with each other and fall for the same guy. We wonder if Catherine was holding back a little bit from really building a connection with Sean because she thought that Lesley was a better fit for him. Now that Lesley’s gone (and Catherine had her strange breakdown about it), maybe Catherine can begin to focus on building a better connection with Sean? Lesley and Sean might have had more in common in Catherine’s eyes, but now she has to start to sustain a lasting connection with him or she’s in danger of going home.

The Hot Seat

Every week, we’ll pick one or two ladies who we think are in danger of getting sent home the following episode. Whether it’s because they’re causing tension in the mansion, had a night of drunken woopsies or just simply aren’t connecting with Sean, these ladies could find themselves in the Bachelor Burn Book Hot Seat … a place that would make even Regina George feel threatened.

No question, Desiree is the obvious choice for this week’s Hot Seat. A good hometown date can seal the deal for a Bachelor couple, but a bad one — and especially an awful one like the one teased in the trailer — can be downright devastating. We really hope that Desiree’s brother and/or ex-boyfriend don’t ruin this budding romance, but we have a hard time picturing Sean keeping someone if he can’t see himself fitting into their family. We hate to say it, but we think Desiree’s days are numbered.
